Deputy Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I trust that you are all safe and well.

It's been almost half a year since we marked the possibility of remote learning for the first time. We had different plans and goals at the beginning of this academic year. However; first, the possibility of remote learning became a reality, and then a norm. It certainly has been another stressful yet overwhelming period for all of us. However, I have full trust that you have all become proactive at guiding, supporting and navigating your children at home. Well done!

I would like to recognize all the hard work the teachers and parents experienced after the announcement of remote learning at the beginning of term 2. As a community we learned the new meaning of the word "zoom", We had to learn how to use MyEd in a few days and we put aside years of classroom teaching experience and started teaching in extraordinary ways. This is all hard work and by the end of it we as a community have accustomed ourselves to great initiatives.

During term 3 we felt the need to address student well-being as we realised that the further restrictions and the continuation of remote learning was demotivating students in different ways. Our well-being department offered a few programs to help motivate our students during term 3. Some of the programs we offered as a school was,

• Well-being assembly - took place during zoom sessions in week 7.
• Footy colour day - took place during week 7 on a Friday where students were allowed to promote their football colours to their friends via zoom
• Crazy hair and casual day - took place during week 8. Students had the opportunity to form a crazy hair and show it to their peers in class.

We will have another well-being assembly that will take place next week. Please stay tuned.

Dealing with homeschooling under lockdown

Dealing with homeschooling during lockdown could be challenging for our parents. I am attaching a link below for parents to gain some insights and ideas on how to help and assist homeschooling during this pandemic.

We look forward to seeing our students face to face next term. For now our foundation, year 1 and year 2 students will resume term 4 on-site. Due to the staged resumption, we are yet to find out when the government officials will announce the start date for year 3-6 students on-site.
